Ohio Health Director Alvin D. Jackson was among a small group of government and industry
officials to meet with President Barack Obama last week to discuss ways to reduce spiraling
health-care costs for companies and governments.
In particular, Jackson described the Healthy Ohio initiative launched by Gov. Ted Strickland to encourage Ohioans to prevent disease through better nutrition, exercise and weight control. Although Jackson shook Obama's hand during the 2008 campaign, it was the first time he had the opportunity to sit at a table with the president. "It was a very exciting time and opportunity," Jackson said. Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
