The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission will hold three meetings to discuss the future of Blacklick Creek and possible cleanup options.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Township Community Center, 4575 Madison Lane, Groveport.

The next two meetings are set for 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Beech Maple Lodge in Blacklick Woods Metro Park, 6975 E. Livingston Ave., in Reynoldsburg, and 6 to 8 p.m. on April 6 at Tartan East Golf Club, 6140 Babbitt Rd., New Albany.

Some streams in the watershed have high bacteria counts because of failing septic systems. Fertilizers and pesticides from lawns and farm fields also pollute the stream.

Cleanup options include conservation easements, finding money to buy land for parks, and improving storm-water basins, said David Rutter, MORPC's watershed coordinator.

January brought some frigid (at least for D.C.) weather to the nation's capital, and for Redskins fans the end of a long, miserable losing season. But sports fans can still catch one of the nation's hottest teams even in the coldest of weather.
